Baby Clinic and Access to Health Visitor

The practice holds a weekly baby clinic at Elvington Surgery on a Wednesday 2-3.30pm. The baby clinic is run by the practice health visitor Kitty Lamb. A GP is also available for consultation and the practice nurse runs an immunisation clinic.

All babies born in the practice are visited by the health visitor from the 10th day after birth and contact will be maintained thereafter by further home visits and developmental assessments in baby clinic.

Health visitors are qualified nurses with specialised training in child health, health promotion and health education. They are attached to GP practices and work alongside the GPs and practice nursing team to support families with young children. Some typical situations where the health visitor may be of help to you are:

* The health of your baby or young child
* The impact of a new baby in the family
* Your emotional well-being

If you would like to contact Kitty, her office is based at The Avenues Childrens’ Centre, Sixth Avenue, York (01904 551760).
